As punks go, these guys are daft.

Yep, you guessed right. This is _the_ post about my ultimate-favourite group ever, Daft Punk!

The first time I heard Daft Punk was long ago. It was New Year's eve, and I was spending my time in my godparents' place. MTV was on, though nobody was really watching it. And suddenly, there it was. The most awesome music video I had seen. It seemed like cartoon, but as a wise kid I knew the drawing style was called anime. I tried to memorize the name of the song so that I could listen to it later, but as anyone can guess, I either forgot the name really soon, or just forgot to search for the song.

I was 14 when Daft Punk came to blow my mind. I was home, cooking in kitchen, listening to the songs played on The Voice (a Finnish music channel). It was really strange when I heard it again. The song sounded so familiar and I had to stop cooking and see what was that song, wrecking up my mind by sounding so nostalgic. There it was again. I remember thinking "this can't be!", and I ran fast to get pen and paper so that this time I would, I surely would remember the name!

Having eaten the dinner I rushed to upstairs and downloaded the song. It had never sounded so good, because after all, I had just started listening to electronic music! At that time, I hadn't realized that I could download albums as .zips or .rars, so I was happy with just one song. Soon after I got my second song from Daft Punk. It was "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger". At that time Kanye West's version was a hit, but I liked the original version more.

I think I would never really have started listening to Daft Punk for real, if it wasn't for usual. We were spending a night-over at my place, and just listening to some random-cds I had burned. When "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" started playing she became really excited. She was asking me questions like "What's this artist?" "Where is this band from?" "How did you find this song?", and I was really confused, because after all, it was just a song that my sister sent me! Just the original version of Kanye West's "Stronger"!

After that night-over I sent "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" to usual. She had Limewire, so she started to download songs from Daft Punk that sounded cool. I think that the third song we listened to was "Robot Rock". She downloaded it because it was our Transformers-season, and everything related to robots was awesome. We both liked "Robot Rock" pretty much.

It was the next summer that she suddenly announced that she had ordered Daft Punk's album "Discovery" from a site called cdon.com! We listened to "Discovery" a lot, and started to study about the band in general. We absorbed the inside-jokes pretty quickly and Guillaume-Emmanuel Paul de Homem-Christo was our favorite thing to say. Usual made a Daft Punk-hoodie. We wrote the words of "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" on our hands and started to learn this.

I didn't buy the CDs although usual did. I didn't really have the money, and at that time I didn't have the respect for real CDs like these days. But I loved listening to them. We really did all weird things, such as wrapping aluminum around our heads, only because Guy-Manuel and Thomas had done so. Usual started to draw these robots. We even had a big plan of making Daft Punk-plushies. We never did those. Maybe someday we will.

Everything, everything related to Daft Punk was exclusive to us. If there was an ad somewhere in the streets that had Thomas' or Guy's picture on it, we ripped it off, it was supposed to be on our wall. I still have one poster of Thomas on my closet.

In summer/fall 2009 I really started to love real CDs. I got Beck's CD "Guero" as a confirmation gift from usual. Suddenly I remembered how awesome it was, to hold a real CD in my hands. It felt like supporting the artist, and because I respected Daft Punk so much, I wanted to support them, and soon I bought two CDs from them, "Discovery" and "Musique vol. 1". It was then when I realized that music truly was (and is) my passion. Having bought real CDs from my favorite group felt so awesome that I needed more. And quickly. Christmas passed, and I got money as present. I bought Daft Punk's "Alive 2007" and Beck's "Mutations". Apart from those, I needed to buy clothes, too, so I had to forget buying CDs for a while. There just wasn't money enough.

I was actively searching through huuto.net (it's like Finland's eBay.), and one day there was an awesome set, Daft Punk's "Human After All" and "Technologic (single)" in the same set, and the whole thing costed only about 10€! I had to get it. Luckily it was okay with mom and I got it. Funny thing is, that after getting that set I said something about being so excited about it to my friend. He secretly bought me Daft Punk's "Homework", because I had said that I didn't have it yet. It was… really nice.

Hmm.. Is there anything I forgot? If there is, I guess it wasn't that important. Having listened to Daft Punk for many years now, I must say that I never ever get bored to it. Daft Punk is my nirvana.

Now, I have listed 5 of my favorite songs by Daft Punk. Hope you enjoy them.

1. Daft Punk - Something About Us (from Discovery)

2. Daft Punk - Face to Face/Short Circuit (from Alive 2007)

3. Daft Punk - Digital Love (from Discovery) Also, check out this remix, I really love it!

4. Daft Punk - The Prime Time Of Your Life (from Human After All)

5. Daft Punk - Superheroes/Human After All/Rock'n Roll (from Alive 2007)

So there. If you cared to read 'til the end, thank you. This took a lot of time because I really had to summarize everything that's happened in past years. :D Thank you, I'm on my way now.

for i, too, have seen the burning bush

Lately, I've been really addicted to chill-out-kinda music, and I've been listening to funk, jazz and reggae. And such genres. So, I decided to make a TOP-5-favourite song list! Of course, this list is only about the songs I love RIGHT NOW. I'll make a post of my all-time-favourite songs someday! But yeah, here you go!

1. Raappana - Maasta Maahan

Up first, some Finnish Reggae! Personally, I just LOVE this song. It's really really cool, and the lyrics are really good. Somehow I had big suspicions when I first heard about reggae being sang in Finnish. I'm kinda happy my friend made me listen to it, because it's actually pretty nice. If you wanna know what he sings about, see this.

2. Azur - All These Things Remind Me

Ah, Azur. I hadn't even heard of Azur before Monday, but I've gotta admit, in just two days I've grown to love it. All These Things Remind Me was the first song I heard from Azur, and it's also the one I love the most. The song is really, really relaxed and fun to listen. Fits to almost any feeling.

3. Jamiroquai - Love Foolosophy

Jamiroquai, Jamiroquai.. Where should I even begin? Jamiroquai is one of my number-one artists at the moment, but Love Foolosophy is my number-one song. The song is just very light and fun. Lyrics are kinda cliché, but this song makes me happy, anytime, anywhere! Maybe that's why it's my ringtone.

4. Bootsy Collins feat. Kelli Alli - Play With Bootsy

This song was pure love from the very first time I heard it. It's groovy, Bootsy's blabbering random things on the background, the bassline is awesome, and on top of all, THIS is the music I love! It's rare for me to find songs I fall in love with right away. This is funk, this is the awesomeness.

5. Ben Mono - Jesus Was A B-Boy (Moulinex Remix)

I heard this song for the very first time in my friend's, Sami's setlist. I really loved it right away. E-house has always been a huge thing for me, ever since I found Daft Punk. So, hearing this for the first time, I was rather amazed. Don't really know why I love this song so much. It just... sounds cool.

Well, that's it for my top-5 right now! Hope you enjoyed, and maybe even found some songs you liked! I'm off to bed now.

Amusement day

Had a fun day today ! We went to amusement park which lies here in Tampere. The main point of today was to play a dancing game, called Pump It Up PRO.

Pump It Up is kinda new game to us. We've always played In The Groove or Dance Dance Revolution, both which have only 4 arrows, so it's really hard to get used to 5 arrows. Anyway, we had fun. So, we played a couple of credits and had really good time. After that we went to have some ice cream and french fries.

Happy unique. Usual was fishing and she won this. Luckily she gave it to me. I love it. ♥

Happy usual. Laughing at me. Anyway, she's happy ! n___n

And then we went home.

it's Boss time !

Bruce Springsteen was on town yesterday. It was rather amazing to go see him, since he is such a big star in the world. And I was really amazed that he would come in this small city, with a small stadium. I haven't heard many of his songs before the concert, but I still had a great time there ! And I'm pretty sure that the other 30 000 people enjoyed being there too.
It was nice to see that the band, including Bruce, really e
njoyed playing the songs. People were so excited when Bruce walked on the edge of the stage and shook hands with the fans. He even gave his harmonica to a girl. The girl just burst into tears. We couldn't shake hands with him, we were about 50 meters from the stage, but still had a great view.
I wasn't familiar of the songs they played, but that didn't stop me from singing with the crowd ! And Bruce surprised us in the end: he and the band started to play Santa Claus is coming to town ! Whole crowd went crazy at this point. Bruce had this christmas hat in his head, and he laughed a lot.
I'm totally gonna see him again, if he's coming to Finland someday. The Boss still knows how to rock !

something's in my eye

Hello. This is a blog and we are writing it. We are two girls, two girls with a passion for music in its every form. Electro and house have been our favourite genres for a long time.

This might be a good point to introduce ourselves.

I am unique. I love music and movies and such things that make it easy to imagine things. My favourite artists are Daft Punk, Justice and kors k. I also love photography, and taking pictures is probably one of my favourite hobbies. I also like to read. I haven't read a real book in ages, but as far as I remember, I used to love reading when I was a kid.
Anyway, the most important things to me in life are music and friends.
Oh yeah, it's summer, finally ! And, we are currently having a
vacation. So there will be stories. At least I hope so. I think this is enough about me, I'll let usual tell about herself !

'Kay. As unique said, I am usual. And since we have this blog together we have similar interests. I also love music ( you didn't see that one coming, eh ? ). I remember one of the first ( electronic ) song I heard was a song called Freestyler. It was played on TV show that was coming before The Simpsons. I didn't like the song very much, I just wanted to see the yellow family. So you could say that Freestyler was the beginning for my passion for electronic music, even if I didn't understand it myself. Now, a few years later, electronic music has a big part in my life. Its not the only music I like, but definately my favorite. Some top artist and bands for me are Daft Punk, Gorillaz and Beck. And of course many others.
Another thing I really like is drawing. It's been my hobby as long as I can remember.
Photoshopping is cool too.
